How has yoga helped you build confidence?
Like many others, when I first started my yoga practice 8 years ago, I was focusing on just asanas (yoga poses). As I progressed, I realized that the true practice is more than just physical poses. It allows me to feel amazing physically AND mentally. It is a journey of self-discovery. As my self-awareness grows, I started to accept and embrace who I am.
Could you please tell us more about your Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practice?
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is my other passion. I have been promoting BJJ self-defence with my professor for charity events, corporate organisations, workshops in schools and universities in the past 2 years and I really enjoy doing it!
I believe that BJJ is a martial art that every woman should learn because of its nature and principles that make it so effective for a smaller, weaker person to defend against a larger and stronger opponent. With dedication to the practice, not only it gives confidence and empowerment, it also helps developing the ability to stay calm under pressure.
What are your thoughts on woman empowerment?
Us women should believe that we are valuable, powerful and deserving of love and the best for ourselves. No one can make you feel bad or not good enough physically, mentally and emotionally without your consent.
